Purchased at auction on St. Helena in 1821 by a British officer, given to Rev. W. J. Cother, brought to US in 1885, purchased from Cother in Belton in 1894 by J. M. Carroll, sold to G. W. Carroll of Beaumont, who gave it to Baylor, circa 1900.
Curious Facts
This clock was reportedly owned by Napoleon Bonaparte while he was in exile on the island of St. Helena. While this is unlikely, the decorative style and make of the clock is early 19th century France.
