Necklace

  • A necklace made of white shell beads with a large, crescent-shaped shell pendant.

Purchased in Honiara, Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands, by Dr. Bryce C. Brown in 1972.

This necklace may have been used as part of payment for a "bride's price." In some cultures, a bride's price is money or wealth paid by the groom or his family to the bride or her family.
