Chalcopyrite on Dolomite

  • Chalcopyrite, a copper iron sulfide mineral on dolomite, a calcium magnesium carbonate mineral.

Collected from Ottawa Co., Oklahoma by Hilma Rierson prior to 1972.

Due to its brassy to golden yellow color, chalcopyrite is often confused with gold and pyrite. Dolomite can form white, tan, grey, or pink crystals.
