Amazonite

• Amazonite, a green silicate mineral.

Collected from the Mica Mines, Amelia Co., Virginia, by staff of the U. S. National Museum in 1902.

Ironically, this mineral was named after the Amazon River, yet there are no known deposits of the amazonite within the region.
