Powder flask

• A metal flask with embossed design of deer and flowers. Used to contain black powder.

Belonged to Col. Ralph Durkee, Commandant of the military on Baylor Campus in the 1940s and Commandant of the Baylor Air Science Training Program.

Metal replaced animal horns as the preferred container for holding gun powder shortly before the American Civil War. The size and style of this flask was common for hunting.
