About This Object
- A powder horn made from an animal horn. This powder horn was made by William Gilliland and carried by him throughout the American Civil War.
Curious Facts
Most powder horns were made and used during the French and Indian War and the American Revolution. By the time of the American Civil War, they were being replaced by metal powder flasks.
