Collected from the Ojuela Mine, Mapimi, Durango, Mexico. Purchased in 1970.
Curious Facts
The Spanish began mining silver from the Ojuela Mine in 1598. The mine operated for over 350 years, closing in the mid-1940s, and leaving 280 miles of underground workings. Today, mineralogists and amateur collectors continue to prospect for samples of the 117 different minerals known to exist in the mine.
