Texas map turtle

  • A shell from a Texas map turtle (Graptemys versa).

Collected in Bexar Co., Texas by G. W. Marnock prior to 1920.

The Texas map turtle received its common name because the yellow and orange patterns that decorate its head, neck, legs, and tail resemble the contour lines of a topographic map.
