Figurine

• A human figurine in a sitting position. Possibly made in pre-Columbian Mesoamerica.

Purchased in Mexico.

Many Aztec sculptures portray deities in the same manner. Females figurines were frequently made in a kneeling position with their hands resting on their knees.  Male figurines were often made in a sitting position with their knees drawn up with their arms crossed over them.
