About This Object
- A freeze-dried specimen of an eastern copperhead snake (Agkistrodon contortrix).
Collected in McLennan Co., Texas by Jim Herold in 1981.
Curious Facts
Copperheads are venomous pit vipers, meaning that they have a heat-sensing pit organ behind each nostril which allows them to detect warm objects from up to several meters away.
