Bottle

  • A machine-made, hexagonal-shaped bottle manufactured for Dr. August Gude & Co., circa 1920.

This bottle was filled with a remedy for anemia called Gude’s Pepto-Mangan, manufactured by the M. J. Brietenbach Co. of New York. Pepto-Mangan was thought to enrich the blood with iron. It contained 16% alcohol and the recommended dosage for adults was four tablespoons a day.
