Trans-Pecos rat snake

• A freeze-dried specimen of a Trans-Pecos rat snake (Bogertophis subocularis).

Collected from Big Bend National Park, Brewster Co., Texas by John Sparks in 1971.

Trans-Pecos rat snakes are non-venomous. They are nocturnal and are rarely seen except on summer nights during breeding season.
