Head cushion ring

• A ring of woven reeds used to balance and cushion objects carried on the head. 

Purchased in Papua New Guinea by Dr. Bryce C. Brown in 1972.

Carrying loads on the head is common in many parts of the world, as only a simple ring cushion is needed to carry loads approaching a person's own weight.
